Swetka's Tennis Shop was first opened for business in 1969 by Alex and Sally Swetka. Both avid tennis players, Alex and Sally saw the need for a retail tennis store amid the tennis boom of the late '60's and early '70's. They continue to be active in the game, with Alex having won over 50 national titles. In 2007, Alex won the Grand Slam in the 90's age group. He won the singles titles at the four major national tournaments played on clay, grass, hard court and indoor surfaces. Swetka's Tennis Shop continues to be a family-owned and family-operated business as son John, also an accomplished player, has been running the business for the last 20 years. In 2005, Swetka's Tennis Shop was named one of the Top 10 Tennis Shops in the country by RSI, and then in Nov. 2006 was named the #1 Tennis Shop in the nation.
